Congratulations to our Snow Week King and Queen!

February is Minnesota School Board Recognition Month. At our meeting Tuesday evening, the Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial School District recognized our Board members who selflessly give their time and energy in support of high-quality public schooling for our youth. School board members in our District are entrusted by this community with responsibility!
School boards are charged with making decisions that can sometimes be quite difficult or require sifting through a great deal of information. They also bear responsibility for developing a vision that will guide the school district for years to come. Through collaboration as a team, and with school district staff, their governance and advocacy are building the future of education in Minnesota.
We’re encouraging all members of the community to thank a board member. Please thank them for their time and playing a critical civic role that helps form the bedrock of our democracy — public education. As a crucial bridge between the local community and the school district, their efforts are instrumental in helping all of us realize the hopes and dreams we have for the children of our community.
The men and women serving Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial are: Mike Maurer, Sara Rose, Linda Leiding, Ryan Jones, Kelly Hoeft, Kari Paul, Josh Sargent.

We are so thankful for community support and especially thankful for Gerry Berberick for his recent donation of time and effort in a project to help one of our students! Payton struggled to shoot a bow, particularly holding the bow and then pulling the string back, in the 7th grade Archery unit in Phy. Ed. due to his unique abilities.
Thanks to Gerry, who happens to be Mr. Ouren's father-in-law and an archery guru, Payton was able to get a bow just right for him to use!! Gerry did a lot of research to make this happen and received a bow from OFC, then modified to to make it comfortable for him!
Payton is hopeful to get more comfortable with the bow so he can get a deer someday!
Thank you, Gerry, for your time, efforts, and collaborating with our community to make this happen for Payton!!

The Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial School Board is searching for a new superintendent for the next school year. The board is asking district stakeholders to complete this short survey to help them make an informed decision on what skills and focuses the new superintendent should have. Responses can be completed using either the online survey or completing a hard copy returned to the District Office in a sealed envelope.

5th graders have been learning about the Renaissance time period during reading in CKLA. Recently we learned how Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel. In order to paint it he had to strain his neck upwards for four and half years. Today 5th graders pretended they were him by drawing under their desks.
