On March 10, six students from LCWM participated in the annual Trig Star competition at South Central College. The Trig Star program is an annual competition that recognizes the best students of trigonometry from schools throughout Minnesota. The Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors, Chapter One, sponsored the event. In our chapter, over 75 students from five area schools participated. LCWM participants were Hope McLeod, Abby Groos, Isabelle Wawrzynaik, Maggie Graupman, Kiera Kirchner, and Kianna Siebert. Maggie was recognized as the overall 4th place finisher, with a score of 94% in just over 33 minutes. Congratulations!

Mrs. Caldwell’s 5th Grade (3rd Trimester) Social Studies class has been learning theories about Pangea and how people may have migrated to America via the land bridge or by boat. They experienced how difficult it was to carve arrowheads with rocks and deer antlers by carving with soap.

The LCWM Speech went to Sub-Sections yesterday in Fairmont and represented us well! All 5 speakers earned trips to the Section competition. From L-R: Brooke Maurer, 4th in Poetry, Olivia Beecher, 6th in Informative, Destiny Alberty, 1st in Extemp Reading, Ceiliah Slama, 5th in Informative, and Morgan Klinkner, 3rd in Informative. LCWM was ranked 3rd in the Sub-Section based on points earned. They will be traveling to JWP on April 14 for the Section Tournament. Congrats and good luck!

The contest took place on Friday, March 24th at MSU in Mankato. They are now qualified to compete at the championship in Anoka on April 21st

The LCWM Speech team competed in a large meet in Fairmont. Competitors were: (front) Morgan Klinkner, Olivia Beecher, Brooke Maurer; (back) Ceiliah Slama, Destiny Alberty. Congrats to Destiny Alberty and Ceiliah Slama for their performances. In finals, Destiny was 5th overall in Extemp Reading and Ceiliah was 7th overall in Informative. The team is off to Sub-Sections on Monday evening March 27.

These four students competed at the State Science Fair yesterday! Their presentations were about protein found in different eggs, deer movement, bacteria found in dogs mouths, and the Tesla turbine. Yesterday the LCWM Concert Choir participated in the sub-section large group choir contest at Madelia High School, earning SUPERIOR ratings from all three judges! In addition, 11 of our choir students were selected to participate in the area honor choir and performed a concert last night along side several other top vocalists from the sub-section.
