New teacher training day 1 is well underway!
We'd like to officially introduce and welcome our three new Secondary teachers (L to R): Sterling Haphey, 6th grade; Kurt Schroeder, HS Special Education; and Bryant Brunz, Language Arts and Social Studies.
Amber Schubbe (not pictured) will be joining us at the Elementary as our new Special Education teacher this year. She is with elementary staff today attending training on the new reading curriculum being implemented at the Elementary this year.
Please join us in welcoming our new teachers to the district!

The District would like to congratulate Head Cross Country Coach, Doug Burns, for his induction into the Cross Country Head Coaches Hall of Fame. Doug has been the Cross Country Head Coach for 37 years and has impressive stats throughout his tenure with the District! He was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame at the banquet last week!
Doug was nominated by Kyle Blomgren, head coach of the Mt. Lake Area Cross Country team and says of Doug, "not only do his athletes look to him for guidance but we coaches do, too. Doug is always the guy whom I contact when I have a question about rules or scheduling." Blomgren has been coaching 32 years and has "seen Doug wear many hats - those of a student, a mentor and motivator, and a guardian for keeping our sport the most rewarding experience for young people as possible."
Please help us to congratulate Mr. Burns on this amazing honor as he begins his 38th year as Head Coach of our team at LCWM!

This is a bit of old news but a neat opportunity!
Back in May, 31 fifth-grade students had the chance to "meet" their pen pals from France! After corresponding for the majority of the school year, Mrs. Caldwell's class enjoyed a French Crepe (recipe shared by their French penpals but made by Mrs. Caldwell) and learned some French words during their video chat with their pen pals!
Mrs. Caldwell's classes have corresponded with this same school for about five years but this was the first time the classes ever got to meet "face-to-face!

July Breakfast and Lunch menus have been posted! Breakfast is served from 8-9:15 and lunch from 11:30-12:30, Monday-Thursday! Free for kids 1-18 and $5 for adults!

Everything went as planned this afternoon and our emergency personnel were able to train several students from the area on what it means and what is required when responding to an accident victim. Three days of intense learning ended just now with the medical helicopter from North Memorial Hospital. Students were able to hear from the pilots and medical professionals, take a look in the helicopter, and watch it take off. A couple of LCWM students were involved in the camp and one of very own alumni, Ryan Harazin, was an instructor for the day!
The week is hosted by South Central Service Cooperative and South Central Workforce Council. A special thanks to all of the people who help coordinate this great experience for our students and to North Memorial Hospital for bringing the helicopter!

The school is once again hosting Scrubs Camp for area students TODAY at the Secondary School!! We wanted to give a heads up you'll see an ambulance, fire truck, and police car this afternoon and most likely the helicopter, if all goes as planned! So DO NOT be alarmed, it's a hands-on learning experience for our area students!! We will take some photos later today and post those, too!
