March 26-28 (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday), students participated in the Minnesota state FCCLA conference and competition. Students completing were: Lauren, Jasmine, Adam, Kiera, Aidan. The LCWM chapter received awards for 2023 MN FCCLA Region Star Events and for 2023 MN FCCLA State Star Events. These awards are awarded to chapters that achieve Gold standards for their STAR events. Kiera qualified to compete at the National FCCLA competition in Denver, CO. this summer with her Job Interview STAR event project and will be representing LCWM and MN! All the students did an awesome job. Congratulations on your achievements!

On March 10, six students from LCWM participated in the annual Trig Star competition at South Central College. The Trig Star program is an annual competition that recognizes the best students of trigonometry from schools throughout Minnesota. The Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors, Chapter One, sponsored the event. In our chapter, over 75 students from five area schools participated. LCWM participants were Hope McLeod, Abby Groos, Isabelle Wawrzynaik, Maggie Graupman, Kiera Kirchner, and Kianna Siebert. Maggie was recognized as the overall 4th place finisher, with a score of 94% in just over 33 minutes. Congratulations!

Topics have, so far, included school start time, hats, KASTL, and a summary of the events this year. Thanks to these students, their advisors, and board members from the conversations this year!

The robotics team of Megan Lawver, Tanis Kirkpatrick, Lohr Anderson, Samuel Bartelt, and Destiny Alberty placed second in the senior division of the Engineering Machine Design Challenge. The contest took place on Friday, March 24th at MSU in Mankato. They are now qualified to compete at the championship in Anoka on April 21st

These four students competed at the State Science Fair yesterday! Their presentations were about protein found in different eggs, deer movement, bacteria found in dogs mouths, and the Tesla turbine. They'll find out tomorrow how they did! Thanks to Mrs. Bergstad and Mrs. Moeller for advising this group!

The girls varsity basketball team played really hard tonight, but lost to the new London Wildcats at the state tournament 74-38. The lady knights had a great season. Congratulations to the players, coaches and parents on the season.

Yesterday the LCWM Concert Choir participated in the sub-section large group choir contest at Madelia High School, earning SUPERIOR ratings from all three judges! In addition, 11 of our choir students were selected to participate in the area honor choir and performed a concert last night along side several other top vocalists from the sub-section.
