2021-22 Year Begins

LCWM staff members have been in to the school buildings throughout the week preparing for the start of the 2021-22 school year!  The year begins for secondary students on Tuesday, September 7 and on Thursday, September 9 for students in grades K-5.  The district is cautiously optimistic that the school year will look a lot more normal than the previous school year, but is prepared to implement COVID mitigation strategies, if necessary.

The Secondary Open House is held Wednesday, September 1 and Elementary Conferences will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, September 7 & 8.  If your student is needing any school supplies still, make sure to check out the items that have been donated to our district while you’re in the building!  Thank you to the generous donors and MinnStar Bank for assisting in coordinating the collection of items for our students!

Along with a NEW superintendent, there will be no admission into all HOME athletic events and band/choir performances, which is a NEW benefit for LCWM families and LCWM fans.  After limited attendance at events last year, we are hopeful this will encourage our community to support our students by attending these events.  A NEW website, along with Apple & Android phone Apps have also been rolled out.  The District is excited for the improved communication this will provide to our families and encourages people to contact the office if you’re having any trouble navigating it!

While the new items are exciting, there are also some things that won’t change.  One of those items is the federal breakfast and lunch program.  This means that the USDA will continue to provide meals to our students at no cost.  If the federal funding should end, the lunch prices will remain the same as they have been the past couple of years.  (EL Breakfast-$1.50 & Lunch-$2.70; SEC Breakfast-$1.60 & Lunch $2.80; and Adult Breakfast-$2.00 & Lunch-$3.80)  It is also still our commitment to give our students the tools, education, and confidence, with in-person learning, the confidence they need to be successful in “tomorrow’s world”.

The School Board continues to serve our District by ensuring that the best policies and practices are put into place for our students while maintaining oversight of our budget and administration.

We are excited for the NEW school year and everything that entails.  We look forward to seeing all of our students, staff, bus drivers, community members, and others throughout the 2021-2022 school year and THANK YOU for your continued support!  GO KNIGHTS!

Mark Westerburg, Superintendent
