LCWM Triple A and ExCEL Award Winners Recognized

Four outstanding students from LCWM were recognized at the LCWM boys’ basketball game against Madelia on February 24, 2026.
Each year, the Minnesota State High School League invites schools to nominate one boy and one girl for both the ExCEL Award (for juniors) and the Triple A Award (for seniors).
The ExCEL award (which stands for Excellence in Community, Education, and Leadership) is awarded annually to high school juniors who participate in school activities, who show leadership qualities, and who volunteer in their communities.
LCWM’s female nominee for the ExCEL award is Ireland Sargent. Ireland is the daughter of Sheri and Josh Sargent. She has participated in volleyball, basketball, track and field, Hope Squad, Project 4 Teens (P4T), National Honor Society, and band. Ireland is active in the community through participating in many activities at her church and helping with youth sports.
LCWM’s male nominee for the ExCEL award is Carson Othoudt. Carson is the son of Kelly and Jim Othoudt. He has participated in football, wrestling, baseball, National Honor Society, and choir. Carson is active in the community through helping at various youth football camps and wrestling tournaments and through his participation in National Honor Society.
The Triple “A” Award (Academics, Arts, and Athletics) honors high school seniors throughout Minnesota who have a 3.0 or higher grade point average and participate in Minnesota State High School League sponsored athletic and fine arts activities. Each nominee fills out an application, writes several essays, and gets a letter of recommendation from a school staff member.
LCWM’s female nominee for the Triple A award is Nettie Parsons. Nettie is the daughter of Katie and Tony Parsons. Nettie has participated in volleyball, basketball, softball, Student Council, National Honor Society, and band. Nettie has participated in the girls state basketball tournament as well as twice in the state softball tournament. She is active in the community through participating in the Youth Leadership Team at her church, participating in various other church activities, and coaching youth sports. Nettie plans to attend Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, this fall and major in psychology and well as play softball at the college level.
LCWM’s male nominee for the Triple A award is Aidan Moeller. Aidan is the son of Kelly and Jeremy Moeller. He has participated in cross country, basketball, track and field, National Honor Society, FFA, FCCLA, LifeSmarts, band, and speech. Aidan has participated in the state cross country meet as a member of the section 2A champion team as well as the state track meet. He is active in the community through 4H, serving in various capacities at his church, and also volunteering with the Mankato Saddle Club. Aidan plans to attend the United States Air Force
Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this fall and major in engineering while joining the Drum and Bugle Corps and participating in track and field at the college level.
