Return to In-Person Learning Plan

February 5, 2021

LCWM Secondary Parents & Guardians:

Since the start of COVID-19 and the need to distance learn, LCWM has anxiously anticipated when we would be able to safely offer full, in-person learning to our Secondary students again.  We are cautiously and strategically moving forward with our plan to change learning models at the Secondary level and we are happy to detail those plans in this letter and the attached document.

We have revised the planning guide that was released in the fall for our Secondary families to review.  This guide details what Return to In-Person Learning will look like and includes: plans and protocols for cleaning, transportation, and quarantine, among many other things.  Click HERE to be taken to the document or you can find it on the COVID-19 Resources page on the website.

Students in grades 7-9 will begin in-person learning on Thursday, February 18 and students in grades 10-12 will begin on Thursday, February 25.  There will be two days used for planning and transitioning where students will NOT have school.  Sixth grade through 12th grades will NOT have school on Tuesday, February 16Seventh grade through 12th grade will NOT have school on February 17.  Wednesdays will still be a distance learning day for Grades 7-12.

On pages 21-22 there are week-by-week, at-a-glance schedules of the days your student(s) will have no school, distance learning, hybrid learning, or in person learning.

We also understand that some may not be able or comfortable with returning to full, in-person school, which is why the distance learning option is still available to you.  There are details about that option, along with a cut-off for changing to or from this model, on page 6.

As always, we will continue to monitor the COVID-19 data in our area and consult with our regional support team, MDH, and MDE and will make changes accordingly.

If you have any questions or concerns about this plan, please feel free to reach out to the Secondary office and they will be happy to help you.

We look forward to a safe and healthy return to full, in-person learning again soon!

Best Regards,

Tom Farrell, Superintendent
