    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    JOB GOAL:          To provide the students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn and develop.  To perform routine cleaning work in school buildings according to schedule provided by the Head Custodian or Administration.

    ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job satisfactory an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactory.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or the ability need for the position.

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent.  (Some experience in school custodial preferred.)
    2. 18 years of age or older.
    3. Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effective (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staff.
    4. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
    5. Ability to make repairs.
    6. Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill, efficiency, and safety.
    7. Knowledge of cleansing methods and the use, care and safety of cleaning materials, methods and equipment.
    8. Knowledge of requirements for maintaining school buildings in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
    9. Knowledge of the operation of a heating plant and equipment.
    10. Familiar with handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
    11. Perform physical requirements which may include:
      1. Moderate to extensive degree of physical stamina and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
      2. Ability to life and move furniture, desks, shelving, staging, and cleaning supplies.
      3. Ability to operate buffers, scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, and other equipment.
      4. Ability to climb ladders, stretch and bend, to perform cleaning, repairs, and painting.
      5. Ability to walk to various locations within the school buildings and the grounds.
      6. Ability to work primarily in a standing position.
      7. Possible exposure to bodily fluids when cleaning due to student illness or injury.
    12. Custodian – Ability to work primarily during the daytime hours. 
    13. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following.  Other duties may also be assigned.

    1. Clean areas of the school as assigned (i.e., classrooms, halls, offices rest rooms, cafetorium, kitchen, gymnasium, etc.) vacuum, mot buff floors, wash windows, clean chalk boards, dust, paint, replace light bulbs, make minor repairs, etc.
    2. Wash, scrub, disinfect rest rooms daily, and clean all sanitary fixtures, door panels, and drinking fountains daily.
    3. Clean up spills, pick up trash, and respond to special requests for custodial services from faculty members with supervisor approval.
    4. Set up, take down, and move furniture, shelving and partitions as assigned.
    5. Report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards to the proper authority.
    6. Clean and polish any metal works.
    7. Be responsible for locking doors and windows, turning out lights and securing building as assigned.
    8. Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bars are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
    9. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentially when dealing with student and staff information
    10. Assist in greeting and directing visitors to the appropriate person and location.
    11. Participate in complete cleaning and routine maintenance of buildings during the summer and winter breaks.
    12. Participate in in-service programs as assigned.
    13. Requisition custodial supplies and equipment as directed, assist in maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment.
    14. Performs such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem to be appropriate by the School Board or administration.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:   

    1. Possess and maintain a First Class Boiler License (required within 90 days of hiring)

     THEATER DIRECTOR

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Act as educational leader for students participating in extra-curricular theater.
    • Identify and encourage students who may be able to use their talents and benefit from theater activities.
    • Act as liaison between students, administration, and parents in theater.  
    • Set rehearsal and performance schedules for productions working in cooperation with other school activities.

    • Coordinate communication/publicity for all related events. 
    • Coordinate auditions for plays.
    • Help to maintain the performance facility including: scenery, lighting, sound, props, and costumes.  
    • Book facilities needed for practices and performances.  
    • Other Theater Director responsibilities as needed and assigned.
