Secondary School Principal Mr. Mike Thofson
I am truly proud and honored to be the leader of Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Secondary School. Our students in grades 6-12 excel in their learning, citizenship and activities. Their excitement for learning is contagious and continues to inspire me to be a better principal, teacher and person everyday.
LCWM Secondary is a learning community with a tradition of excellence inside and outside of the classroom. Students graduate from LCWM with an education that sets them up to be successful in the future. Our students regularly earn scholarships to 2 and 4 year colleges based on academic performance and their skills learned and perfected at our school. Students from LCWM have won national competitions of their learning and go on to be productive innovators in our society.
Students have the opportunity to excel in activities outside of the classroom as well. We have successful programs in AcaDec, FCCLA, FFA, Knowledge Bowl, NHS, Robotics, Science Fair, music, theater, language clubs and others. These students are taking an active role in school by putting the education they receive in the classroom to practice in the real world. Their goal is to understand today’s issues and how they can positively contribute to society. Each program is led by a motivated and caring advisor who truly thrives on the success of their student members.
Our student athletes compete in over 13 different sports over 3 seasons. LCWM is a member of the Valley Conference and the Minnesota State High School League. Student athletes demonstrate discipline, commitment, teamwork, and leadership in addition to skills and strategy. The coaching staff understands the philosophy of Student First, Athlete Forever in promoting academics, sportsmanship and community. We are proud that our athletes are also successful in the classroom with a combined G.P.A. of 3.325.
Our students travel throughout the state and country to compete, learn, share and grow to show others that LCWM is a strong community that is focused on the whole learner. Our teachers are constantly improving their skills through active research, professional trainig and development and advanced education.
Together we grow and learn so our kids will lead tomorrow.
